Fantastic win! Boris showed on Deerfield Beach who’s the best

The day started with good news, no more rain! All the day Friday had been pouring the Deerfield Beach and the A1A where the sprint triathlon (.4 mile swim, 10 miles bike, 2.6 miles run) was going to take place. Boris Fernandez was concentrated before the race; he doesn’t like to talk much so Monica, a couple of friends and me just wished him luck. The water was calm, perfect temperature around 82 degrees. The race was a battle down to the wire and maybe revenge is not the right word, but Boris wanted to forget what happened on Key Biscayne. Our teammate got out of the water 8 seconds before Eddie Branigan (6:48:177). He added 2 more seconds on the first transition (00:38:422). But after the bike (24:00.497) where he lost 17 seconds and the second transition (00:40.627) Boris was trailing by 10 seconds to Eddie. Here is where those hours on the track paid off. It was a fast run (12:17.199) and Boris crossed the line 26 seconds before Branigan with a final time of 44:24.922 showing everybody that he is still the best, and probably will be for a long time, ¡Felicidades campeón!

3S had more good news to celebrate. The Cox family was the reason for it taking 3 fourth places. Mom, Lisa finished just 23 seconds from the 3rd place with a final time of 01:03:38.468. Her son Billy took a fourth place on the 15 to 19 category with a time of 01:17:10.097. Larry, the third member of the Cox family competing grabbed also a 4th place stopping the clock at 01:03:25.259.

Our great friend Monica Rossi completed an excellent race competing on the elite category. Moni finished 5 with an impressive time of 55:54.352. Joaquin Duro ended the race with his best time of the 2007 calendar; of course, it was his first race of the year. Anyway, he finished with a time of 01:23:21.282 and it was good enough for him.
